Scope and Content

This collection contains correspondence, financial records, legal documents, and items relating to the lives of John C. Fanning and Ella Smalley Fanning. The majority of correspondence prior to 1900 was sent to Ella Smalley and relates to her education. She received numerous correspondence from J.H. Ware, Principal of Williams Creek Academy in Norwood, Georgia.

Scope and Content This collection contains photographs of Fanning family members and images of military officers of the 17th Engineer Regiment at a parade in Atlanta, Georgia. Included are images of a person identified as Major Atwood, a person identified as Major Cushing, and a person identified as the commander in chief of the American Expeditionary Forces.
