Scope and Content This collection consists of newspaper clippings, letters, notes and other ephemera pertaining to the life and death of Joseph Brown Connally. The collection includes a letter notifying Connally of his election to the Governor’s Horse Guard in 1897, his commission certificate from the Georgia State Troops in 1902, special orders from the National Guard in 1913 and from Fort McPherson in 1917. Scope and Content This collection contains photographs and a drawing relating to Joseph E. Brown Connally. Included are nine photographs of Joseph Brown Connally and unidentified family members; a drawing of the S.S. Westernland; and five images of Connally's funeral on August 29, 1920. Of special note are two photographs of a post-World War I parade of Georgia troops marching down Peachtree Street and 2 images of Captain Connally in Nice, France, after the Armistice.
