Scope and Content

The series contains clippings; correspondence; personal notes; event planning; pamphlets; event programs; obituaries; family death documents; invitations; announcements; subscriptions; memberships; medical papers and financial papers; primarily belonging to Charlotte Ferst, but also her husband, Alvin Ferst and their family members. Folders contain a variety of different items including handwritten and typed letters, postcards from the Fersts' friends and family members, catalogues, deeds, and documents regarding the clubs and associations that the Fersts funded or considered funding. The letters and other personal documents reveal their social life, hobbies, and day-to-day activities. More specifically, this series contains a large amount of information on the George Schira trial that Charlotte participated in,The Women's Auxiliary of Piedmont Hospital and the Woman of the Year Award.
