Lee and Gordon’s Mills, Chickamauga, Georgia, undated
Scope and Contents
This collection contains photographs taken by Colonel Thomas Spencer of buildings and sites related to the American Civil War, largely the Battle of Chickamauga and battlesites in the Atlanta Campaign. Most of the photographs were taken in Georgia, with some in Tennessee and Alabama. Many buildings depicted served as headquarters and hospitals of one or both armies during the Civil War. This collection also contains photographs of historical markers, maps, and confederate flags. In addition to the photographs there are informational pages about the location and marker for the grave of Lieutenant Edward Peter Clingman (1842-1864) and Major Daniel Chishom's (1790-?) home, and a handwritten key to the photographs. Of special note is a hand-drawn map showing the location of Leet’s Tanyard in Chickamauga, Georgia.
