McCrary, Alva Pinkston, 1916
Scope and Contents
This collection contains images of the McCrary family, the bulk of which are portraits of Alva Pinkston McCrary, and photographs he took or collected while stationed in France during World War I, such as battlefield images depicting French, American, and German trenches, troops, artillery, aircraft, medical facilities and equipment, and living conditions. Also included are images of dead German soldiers; battle damage to buildings, bridges, and villages; several American naval vessels; and flight operations taken at night. The rest of the collection relates to his studies and activities at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn University).
