Associations and Professional Memberships, Georgia Academy of Science, newsletters, 1962
Scope and Content
The Frederick Bellinger papers are divided into two distinct topics: Genealogy and Family History; and professional papers. A small portion of the papers include genealogy and family history research. Files contain: a typewritten memoir/autobiography of Frederick Bellinger; newspaper clippings and scrapbooks concerning the Bellinger family genealogy; miscellaneous newspaper clippings; and certificates and awards given to Dr. Bellinger. A second portion, the bulk of his papers concern his professional work as a chemical engineer and his research with the United States Army. Papers include: publications from the Georgia Academy of Science; organizational documents, by-laws, and programs from annual meetings of the Armed Forces Chemical Association and the American Ordinance Association; research and publications on Civil Defense, as well as, national defense and the military. A project that appears to have been of particular interest to Frederick Bellinger was the “Fred Project.” This was a classified military project to develop jet propulsion systems in 1945. Dr. Bellinger, for a brief time, supervised the project.
