This series features personal papers of Georgia citizens and other individuals and published documents. Private papers include an estate appraisal, a receipt, and an indenture, all of which document the ownership of slaves. Also included are pieces of Confederate currency and poems. Publications mostly include pamphlets containing reprinted speeches and letters by Alexander Stephens, General Joseph Hooker, Ulysses Grant, Abraham Lincoln, William Tecumseh Sherman, Joseph E. Brown, Jefferson Davis, and Howell Cobb. Also included is a published diary from a Confederate soldier, pamphlets created for reunions of Joseph Wheeler’s Cavalry unit, Civil War sheet music, a soldiers pocket bible, and biographies of Confederate soldiers.
