Overton, Charles W., correspondences related to the Arkansas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, 1977
Scope and Content
This series contains correspondence by and to Arthur P. Strother, Sr, his brother Henry Strother, and Arthur P. Strother, Jr. The majority of the correspondence originated from individuals interested in learning about their family's genealogy who would write to the Strothers about a family member and their possible connection to the Strother line. Many of the replies from the Strothers are included in the series. The Strothers also wrote to distant relatives and other people in the United States and Europe who they believed could supplement information about the Strother line. The Strothers would contact individuals who shared the Strother name to inquire if they shared the same ancestry and would ask them to send as much information on their family as they could. Other correspondence is between Arthur P. Strother, Jr. and representatives of the Sons of the American Revolution in reference to his application to the group, and activities the group sponsored. Additional correspondence is between Arthur P. Strother, Jr. and his more immediate relatives in which they wrote about their daily lives as well as their genealogical pursuits. The correspondence is arranged alphabetically by correspondent and indexed according to the family name referenced therein.
