Scope and Content Note
The images in this series depict Atlanta buildings, street scenes, residences, and parks. Also included are many aerial images of the city during the 1960’s. Photographs include images of the Atlanta Civic Center, Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, Atlanta Municipal Airport, and Grant Field. Images of Peachtree Street North Avenue, and Ponce de Leon Avenue are included as well as color photographs of private residences in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Also included are photographs of a military encampment in Piedmont Park during World War I, and photographs of railroads in Atlanta. The photographer produced dozens of images depicting poverty and poor housing conditions in what appears to be the Mechanicsville/Pittsburgh area south of downtown Atlanta in the late 1960’s.
