Window and in-store displays, 1954, 1959
Scope and Content
This collection contains twenty-five black and white photographs of the interior of the Davison-Paxon Company department store on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. Fifteen photographs are of Christmas decorations in the toy, men's, home goods, and jewelry departments as well as at the entrance to the store and an overheard view of the main floor (1948-1954). The Christmas photographs also show children and staff members interacting with the decorations as well as the construction of the toy display in 1954. Also included in the collection are three photographs of children playing with Davison's outer space display in the toy department in 1952. There are two photographs of the escalator in 1949, one highlighting the women's ready-to-wear department and display. Five photographs depict in-store displays advertising Davison's sixty-fourth anniversary sale (1954), Mother's Day sale (1954), and a display featuring the "Fabulous South" (1959).
