Subseries 1. Artifact purchase papers and information, 1861-2000, undated
Scope and Contents
This series is comprised of seven subseries. The bulk of the materials pertain to original documents, manuscripts, exhibitions, and research and acquisitions for the DuBose Civil War collection. Beverly M. DuBose Jr. kept extensive records of the original Civil War documents he acquired through purchase, gifts, or trade. He also maintained subject files for broader topics related to his research, such as weaponry, military uniforms and accoutrements, and regimental information as well as field notes gathered during battlefield and historical site visits. DuBose also acquired a significant amount of research materials from his fellow Civil War historians, Sydney Kerksis and Wilbur G. Kurtz.
