Scope and Contents

This series contains financial and court records from Milton County before it merged with Fulton County in 1931. Records document the Inferior Court, Clerk of Superior, Treasurer, and Office of Tax Collector. Material includes financial books of return; court proceeding minutes; treasurer books; and ledgers of vouchers, receipts, taxes, receipts, and checks. Of particular note are penitentiary and convict records. The "whipping record" in this collection contains language that some might find offensive.
