This series contains legislative records from the Atlanta City Council and Board of Aldermen and pertain to the legislative branch of the City of Atlanta government.

The Atlanta City Council records include legislation, proceedings, minutes, agendas, code amendments, budgets, audit reports, rules, resolutions, and an audio tape index and recordings. City Council minutes (1848-2007) include indexes for select dates. The minutes include lists of members present and absent, agendas, committee reports, ordinances, and resolutions. The minutes also note the city council's decision regarding all ordinances and resolutions. Council proceedings (1889-1983) include resolutions, ordinances, and proclamations. Topics include zoning issues, requests for amended ordinances, requests for fund transfers, and recognitions of people and organizations. Later proceedings (1983-1997) are filed by reference number and date. The agendas (1983-2005) are from City Council meetings and include notes about proposed ordinances and council decisions. The code amendments (1983-1993) are organized by ordinance number in several notebooks. The budget, rules, audit reports, and council resolutions include a small amount of material from the 1930s to the 1950s. The audio tape library index (1970-1983) includes recordings of the City Council and an index with a log of minutes.

The Board of Aldermen records include proceedings, minutes, resolutions, and a scrapbook. The proceedings (1950s-1970s) include ordinance proposals from various departments, requests for funds transfers, proposed resolutions, petitions, permits, and claims. The Board of Aldermen minutes (1875-1972) include indexes for select dates. The minute books contain information from Board of Aldermen meetings such as member attendance, ordinances, and reports. In addition to the Aldermanic minutes, the series also includes the Board of Aldermen Parks Committee minutes (1960-1973). City resolution records (1960 and 1965) include resolutions proposed by various committees such as Buildings and Electric, Water Works, Finance, Aviationm, Public Works, Parks, Purchasing, Library, and others. Other material includes a scrapbook (1933-1936, and 1953-1973) as well as various meeting notes from select dates.
