Scope and Content

This collection consists of a hospital transfer order, signed by "Jus. T. Johnson" which transferred Lieutenant James B. Wade of Echols Artillery from General Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, to General Hospital in Washington, Georgia.

Administrative/Biographical History

Echols Artillery was organized in 1862 and surrendered at Durham Station, North Carolina, with the rest of General Joseph E. Johnston's forces on April 26, 1865. James B. Wade became the 2nd lieutenant on February 21, 1863. Other biographical information on James B. Wade has not been determined.
