Administrative/Biographical History

The Dahlia Society of Georgia, Inc. was organized in 1934 to "stimulate the interest in Dahlias; to encourage the novice and amateur; and to assist the grower in maintaining a high standard in varieties best suited to this locality." Among the society's charter members was Conrad E. Faust, nationally recognized dahlia expert and judge. The society is affiliated with the American Dahlia Society and the Southern States Dahlia Association, and is governed by president, vice president, and treasurer. The society holds monthly meetings, produces a monthly newsletter, and hosts annual dahlia flower shows and tuber plant sales. The society has been active in testing new varieties of dahlias and maintained a trial garden on behalf of the American Dahlia Society.
