Scope and Content
These papers include correspondence, printed material, and newspaper clippings. The printed material includes programs for the premiere of the movie Gone With the Wind and other event programs, and also banking. Of special interest are biographical materials on John K. Ottley and a copy of A Brief History of the Ten, an exclusive study club. The newspaper clippings pertain to Mother's Day, Atlanta history and other topics.

Administrative/Biographical History
Charles Augustus Bickerstaff was born in Selma, Alabama to Charles N. and Estelle Dupree Bickerstaff. He married Mabel Hurt and they had four children. In 1912, he came to Atlanta where he was associated with Atlanta Home Insurance Company. He became assistant manager for the southern office of Fireman's Fund and later manager from 1915-1930. He was struck and killed by lightening on July 4, 1937.
