Administrative/Biographical History
The first air mail letter to Atlanta arrived on September 15, 1926 addressed to Governor Clifford Walker. The service was the result of a contract between the U.S. Post Office and Florida Airways, Inc. Six cities were affected by this contract: Atlanta, Macon, Jacksonville, Tampa, Ft. Myers, and Miami. Due to small volume, the service was discontinued December 31, 1926. It was reestablished May 1, 1928.
