Administrative/Biographical History
George Walton, a Virginia native, came to Savannah, Georgia in 1769. As a representative of Georgia to the Continental Congress, Walton signed the Declaration of Independence. He later served as governor of Georgia. Walton served as chief justice for Georgia, 1783-1789.
