This collection consists of an authorization, dated September 15, 1862, to pay Albert K. Francis of Company A, 5th Infantry, Georgia Volunteers. H. T. Massengale, captain and quartermaster, signed the authorization.

Administrative/Biographical History
Albert K. Francis was a resident of Richmond County, Georgia, and served as a private in Company A, 5th Georgia Volunteers. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" W. Raney at the Church of the Atonement (Episcopal) in Augusta, Georgia, on January 6, 1863. They had a daughter, Matilda Jane Francis, who was christened at the aforementioned church on June 14, 1866. Additional biographical information about Albert K. Francis has not been determined.
