Administrative/Biographical History

The Habersham Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was formed in 1928 to "stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs, to exchange experiences, to aid in the protection of native trees, plants, birds, and to encourage civic planting." The club is governed by elected officers such as president, vice president, and treasurer and is an active member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., National Garden Clubs, Inc., and the Fulton County Federation of Garden Clubs. In 1932 the club began the long term civic project of landscaping a section of median parkway along Peachtree Battle Avenue at Habersham Road. The club continues to work with the Peachtree Battle Alliance to help maintain the Habersham Memorial Garden at Habersham Road and Peachtree Battle Avenue. Since its formation, the club has supported several other organizations such as the Expressway Beautification Association, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, the American Red Cross, and more recently, the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Trees Atlanta. The club was an original member of the Atlanta Flower Show Association hosting and participating in flower shows. The club continues its involvement with numerous flower shows, including the Southeastern Flower Show, winning many awards.
