Administrative/Biographical History
The Rochester Dahlia Society of Rochester, New York, was formed in 1939, to "stimulate interest in and promote the culture of dahlias; to proved a meeting place for the discussion of problems and exchange information concerning dahlias; to provide ways and means for holding a yearly exhibition; and disseminate information to the public relating to dahlias." The society is governed by elected officers such as president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. The society is affiliated with the American Dahlia Society and the North Atlantic Dahlia Conference. Many of the society's members are certified dahlia flower show judges and participate in American Dahlia Society flower shows as well. The society holds monthly meetings, an annual dahlia show, tuber plant sales, and garden tours.
