Peters Street viaduct field book

 Collection
Collection number: ahc.MSS850f

Scope and Content

This collection contains a 1935 field book that documents the construction of the Peters Street viaduct in downtown Atlanta, part of which became Georgia State Route 154. V.W. Smith, the state project's research engineer, likely did the recording. The field book details daily work performed by contractors, including notes on the weather and how it affected the work completed, strategy changes, on-hand calculations, supervisor visits, and higher management schedules. There are also detailed tables and calculations for roadway construction, railroad curves, and surveying measurements.
