Administrative/Biographical History

The Nashville, Chattanooga Railway was granted a charter by the state of Tennessee on December 11, 1845. The Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad served as an outlet for Tennessee products. With plans to acquire a line into St. Louis, the name was changed to the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis Railroad in 1873.
