Administrative/Biographical History
The Friends of Piedmont Park, Inc. was a non-profit, community based volunteer organization founded in September 1983 to generate public sensitivity toward the Park. What began as a citizen's advisory task force grew into a non-profit corporation whose purpose was to preserve, conserve, and enhance the Park. The Piedmont Park Conservancy evolved from the Friends group into an entity whose mission is to renovate, restore, preserve, enhance, manage, and endow Piedmont Park in perpetuity. The Friends group and the Conservancy have worked with the community, businesses, and City officials to accomplish their goals. The Conservancy has conducted considerable fund raising and planning for a master plan for the park. Additional historical information has not been determined.
