Administrative/Biographical History
The Tea Olive Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia was organized in 1949 to "stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and flower arrangement among amateurs; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants; and to encourage civic beautification." The club was governed by elected officers such as president, vice president, and secretary-treasurer. The club joined The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. in 1951 and the Atlanta Flower Show Association in 1952. The club landscaped and maintained the grounds of the Ethel Percy Church Home for Girls on Ponce de Leon Road and also supported the Garden Therapy Program at the Milledgeville State Hospital. The club hosted and participated in many flower shows, winning numerous awards.
