Scope and Content
This collection contains reports created by the Atlanta Assessment Project about the Atlanta Public School System. These reports outline the goals for the Atlanta Public School System, as well as how to reach these goals. The collection also contains reports on the school system for years prior to the project, as well as papers on the history of the city. Of particular note are critiques written by Atlanta residents on one of the reports that concern the economy, demographics, employment, civil rights, and segregation.

Administrative/Biographical History
The Atlanta Assessment Project was created to assess the needs of the city of Atlantas Public School System and to suggest improvements. The project began its research into the school system in 1971 and published their reports and recommendations in 1972 and 1973. Additional historical information about the Atlanta Assessment Project has not been determined.
