Administrative/Biographical History

The Kiwanis Club of Atlanta, Georgia, is a civic club founded in 1918 by professional men as an association to promote business networking and serve the poor. The club is governed by a board of directors and is led by a president, treasurer, and secretary. George Hunt was the club's first president. Among the club's earliest projects included: selling World War I Liberty Bonds in 1918, the beautification of buildings, and the implementation of children activities. By 1920, the club had over two hundred members, making it one of the larger Kiwanis clubs in the world. The Kiwanis Club of Atlanta's motto is "Learn, Serve, Connect". The club features education luncheons with speakers addressing local, national, and international issues. Also, the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta provides grants to various educational and humanitarian organizations through the Kiwanis Foundation of Atlanta.
