Administrative/Biographical History

The Flower Arrangers Club of Georgia was organized in 1950 by a group of flower show judges to study rules and principles of judging and to strive for uniformity and understanding in judging through constructive work and criticism. Among the club's notable members were Elizabeth P. Edmondson (1920-2012), honorary executive Marie J. Fort (1892-1969), Sara H. Jordan (1906-2005), and Marie Stevens Walker Wood (1883-1973). The club was governed by elected officers such as president, vice president, and treasurer. The club was a member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., Fulton Federation of Garden Clubs, and the North Georgia Council of Flower Show Judges. An early club project was the publication of a three volume set, Artistry of Arrangement, from 1951 to 1954. Club members judged and participated in numerous flower shows as well as flower arrangement courses. Many members were also active in other garden clubs and wrote flower arranging and flower show judging books.
