Administrative/Biographical History
The Brookwood Hills Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was organized in 1938 to "aid the promotion of mutual interest in the preservation and beautification of this subdivision, to create good fellowship in encouraging interest in plant life, and the art of arranging and cultivating flowers." The club is governed by elected officers such as president, vice-president, and treasurer. Club memberships include The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. and the Fulton County Federation of Garden Clubs. While working to restore the park in Brookwood Hills, the club established nature trails and a bird sanctuary. They also landscaped the Brighton Road and Palisades Road neighborhood entrances. The club has supported organizations such as the American Red Cross and local area hospitals in addition to hosting and participating in numerous flower shows.
