Administrative/Biographical History
The Southern Council on International and Public Affairs, previously known as Education for Freedom, was established in June of 1961. The organization's mission focused on educating the local community on contemporary issues in international relations by inviting both domestic and international diplomats to Atlanta to discuss relations and economics. Founding members included Atlanta businessmen Randolph Richardson, Bo Callaway (1927-2014), Ed Noble (1928-2016), and Dillard Mumford (1918-1993). The organization was also governed by an officer's board. It is maintained by a staff that includes the current president, Peter C. White. As of 2019, the organization is currently known as the Southern Center for International Studies.
