Cunningham family photographs
Scope and Content
This collection contains photographs of the Cunningham family, as well as photographs of Gussie Swafford Cunningham's father, John Augustus Swafford, and her cousin, Ray Swafford (1889-1917), pictured in front of the Maddox-Rucker Banking Company in Atlanta, Georgia. Also included are photographs of a Georgia Power Company line crew, which features Julian Cunningham's father-in-law, Major Holland Collins (1883-1966). There are also photographs of Ella Swafford's father, David Terrell Duncan, and the Blue Ridge Hotel in Clayton, Georgia, which Duncan owned and operated.

Administrative/Biographical History
Albert Edwin Cunningham Sr. (1896-1949) was born in Bingen, Decatur County, Georgia, to Thomas Cunningham (1856-1926) and Mattie Cunningham (1868-1958). He was married to Gussie Swafford (1898-1970), who was born in Georgia to John Augustus Swafford (1865) and Ella Duncan Swafford (1865-1946). During World War I, Albert served in the United States Army and was stationed at Camp Gordon. After the war, he became a salesman for the wholesale dry goods store A. M. Robinson Company. Albert and Gussie had three children: Albert Edwin Cunningham Jr. (1919-1989), Julian Cunningham (1921-1996), and Barbara Ann Cunningham (1925-2009), all of whom were born in Fairburn, Georgia. Albert Edwin Cunningham was a mechanic for the Walker Electrical Company and served in the United States Army during World War II. Julian Cunningham was married to Emma Geraldine Collins (1921-2001), and served in the United States Army during World War II. He later worked as the director of court services for the Fulton County Juvenile Court. Barbara Cunningham was married to Joseph McLarin Woodall (1921-1997).
