The 2017 March for Science Atlanta march was in response to President Donald J. Trump's (1946- ) proposed budget cuts to federal agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Institutes of Health, and the dissemination of misleading information about vaccines and denial of climate change. It took place in Candler Park in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 22 and attracted over 4,000 people. It was one of 400 satellite marches that took place in the United States.

The 2017 Martin Luther King Jr. March and Rally was part of a larger series of events that honored Martin Luther King, Jr. and mark the 50th anniversary of his assassination. It focused on issues including transportation, education, housing, job creation, voter registration, education, and environmental justice. Organizations participating in the march included the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, the Georgia Alliance of Social Justice, and the African Association of Georgia. The march and rally travelled from Auburn Avenue and Peachtree Street to Jackson Street in downtown Atlanta.

The 2017 Women's March on Washington was a protest following the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States. Almost 500 national and international satellite protests also took place, including one in Atlanta, Georgia. The protests were prompted by sexist comments made by President Trump, and addressed policies surrounding women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, immigration reform, and racial inequality, among others.
