Robert E. Campbell papers
Scope and Contents
The Robert E. Campbell papers consist of military documents, travel articles about Europe, family papers, publications, National Bank of Georgia documents, newspaper articles, and copies of the Georgia State University newspaper Georgia State Signal. Newspapers document the women's suffrage movement, John F. Kennedy's assassination, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's death, the first moon landing, and the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks. Records from Campbell's military career include class notes, artillery drawings, military orders, and handbooks. Of particular note are Bank of Georgia documents about construction of a new office building, employee reunions, Campbell's career, and company publications. The collection also includes publications from Campbell's fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi.

Biographical / Historical
Robert Ericson Campbell (1926-2014) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to John Augustus Campbell (1892-1970) and Sophie Edwards (1898-1957). He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1952, earning the title Staff Sargeant. In 1959 he graduated from Georgia State University where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. Campbell married Juanita Mary Alexander (1930-1979), and they had four children. For over 30 years he worked for Bank of Georgia, renamed National Bank of Georgia in 1965. He served as Vice President.
