Administrative/Biographical History

The Gardenia Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was organized in 1938 to "stimulate among amateurs the knowledge and love of gardening, the study and culture of flowers, landscape gardening, protection of native trees, plants and birds, and the encouragement of civic planting and artistic endeavor." In the same year the club began their largest civic project of landscaping and maintaining the grounds of the A. G. Rhodes Home for Incurables. The club also visited and entertained the patients with parties and donated Christmas gifts and flower arrangements. The club is governed by elected officers including President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. The club is a member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., the Junior Flower Show Association, and the Atlanta Garden Center. The club hosts and participates in numerous flower shows, winning many awards.
