Scope and Content

This collection contains a scrapbook that details the social and civic activities of the club. Material includes photographs, correspondence, clippings, and programs. Of special interest are photographs of members' gardens from the Emory University area neighborhood. Additional loose photographs of Eatonton and Griffin, Georgia, from approximately 1938, are found at the end of the scrapbook.

Administrative/Biographical History

The Azalea Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was formed in 1929 and was an active member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. and the Atlanta Garden Center. The club was governed by elected officers such as president, vice president, and treasurer. The club supported many beautification projects with organizations such as Grady Memorial Hospital, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Free Cancer Home, and Druid Hills High School (formerly Druid Hills School). Also, the club hosted and participated in local flower shows winning many awards. Additional historical information about the Azalea Garden Club has not been determined.
