Stewart family documents

Strickland family business ledger

This collection consists of one ledger book from the dry goods business owned by the Strickland family in Cumming, Georgia. The first part of the book lists who bought merchandise. The second part lists what the store owners bought from other merchants. This ledger also includes information regarding gold mine expenses in Forsyth County.

This collection consist of a report entitled “Suggested Scheme for the Camouflage of a Manufacturing Plant” by Daniel H. Boden, Preston S. Stevens, Willard N. Lamberson, and Clarence W. Baughman, in response to a problem submitted for Course in Civilian Camouflage at the Evening School of Applied Science, Georgia School of Technology. The report designed camouflage for a road machinery manufacturing plant located in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains.

This collection contains an evangelical treatise published by the Bennett Printing House, Atlanta, Georiga, titled “Surely I Come Quickly” and authored by G. Hinman. In the treatise, he argues why he believes Christ will return to save those who believe in Him and references scripture to support his argument. He also emphasizes that there will be clearly recognizable signs to mark Christ’s return at an unexpected time.

This collection contains a draft photocopy of Bower's regional survey, "Fences in the Landscape of the Northeast Georgia Mountains" prepared while she worked as a preservation planner for the Georgia Mountains Area Planning and Development Commission (later Georgia Mountains Regional Commission). Bower's survey examines the history of fences in the southeastern states and the types of fences used in northeast Georgia.
