Scope and Content

This collection contains transcriptions of two diaries accompanied with annotations made by the transcriber. One is the diary of R.S. Norton and the other was written by William Towers after the war. Each details company movements & discusses significant deaths of each battle. Norton also includes comments on rising prices of various staples and dry goods.

The Waddells are the contributors of the Civil War period correspondence which demonstrate in great detail the conditions of the lives of those left at home and of the needs of the soldiers.
