Scope and Content

The Elijah Alexander Brown, Sr. papers primarily document the operation of Brownwood, the Brown family farm in Gordon County, Georgia. Much of the correspondence is from Elijah's father and mother. A few are letters to Elijah's father and one is to Elijah's brother, George Marion Brown. The legal documents contained in this collection mostly deal with Brownwood, as do the invoices and receipts. Finally, there are Brownwood Farm records and an illustrated storybook.

Scope and Content This collection consists of a ledger containing the minutes of the stockholders' meetings and directors' meetings of the Flovilla Canning Company (Georgia) dating from the 1890s. Also included in the ledger is information regarding the Smith Brothers cotton crop of 1939. Other items include the Smith Brothers lumber business, guano accounts, and hay sold to the town of Jackson, Georgia.
