Scope and Content This collection consists of the papers of the Hillyer family. It is divided into seven different series, keeping the papers of each individual in a separate series. Series I is Judge George Hillyer's materials, and it is divided into five subseries consisting of legal papers and court cases, publications, civic duty and railroads, speeches, and personal papers. Troutman and Battey family papers

Scope and Content

The bulk of the Troutman and Battey family papers are legal documents (many from Floyd Country) generated by those families, including deeds of indenture (many signed by Dr. Robert Battey), wills, and an abstract of title to lands in Floyd County. The collection also contains correspondence, the majority of which was sent to Colonel Hiram Bainbridge Troutman, a book of Minstrel song, and documents pertaining to Atlanta society.
