Grady Hospital Student Doctors Account of the Winecoff Hotel Fire

Scope and Contents of the Records This collection contains a transcript of the comments of four doctors who served as student doctors under Dr. Charles Holloway at Grady Hospital. These four witnessed the fire and assisted patients both at the scene and in the emergency room. The first doctor interviewed was unnamed and arrived at the hospital emergency room at four in the morning. His account includes details on how the hospital’s lack of space and small staff made it difficult to handle the large amount of fire victims...

This collection contains copies of articles from scientific journals, newspaper clippings, awards, newsletters, and correspondence. There is also a pamphlet written by Davison titled Self-Examination of the Breast by Women. Included in the collection are a scrapbook of articles on the Tenth Southern Surgical Congress (1939) as well as Margaret Block's programs.
