Ella Parker composition book

Scope and Content

This composition book contains assignments completed by Ella Parker as coursework at Wesleyan Female College. Included are short works of fiction, essays, and drawings. Of particular note are a series of essays on the life of Paul the Apostle, an essay on womanhood in Shakespeare, and several drawn maps of Paul's missionary journeys.

Emmie Castellow herbarium

Scope and Contents

This collection contains a herbarium inscribed "Emmie Castellow, S.F.C. May 18, 1896," presumedly created by Castellow for her work at Southern Female College (later Cox College). The herbarium includes specimens of Southeastern native wildflowers, trees, and shrubs in a notebook labeled "Drawing Book." Pressed specimens are identified with botanical names including family, genus, and species classification and some include common names.

This collection contains papers from Mary Shindelbower's college years and teaching career. Included are newspapers from and about the Georgia State College for Women, college handbooks, newspapers from other schools, pamphlets from teacher conferences, teacher handbooks, teacher forms, church programs, World War II ration books, and newspaper clippings.

Dates: 1905-1972, undated
