This collection contains copies of correspondence written to United States Senator from Georgia Alexander Clay Stephens from constituents and associates. Most of the letters are requesting favors for military or political appointments.

This collection documents members of the Cochran and Love families of Atlanta and Cobb County, Georgia. Portraits by three Atlanta photographers, William E. Lenney; Moses M. and William H. Gardner; and Edwards & Son (Jay D. Edwards and William M. Edwards) are included. Of particular interest is a carte-de-visite of United States Senator Alexander Stephens Clay (1853-1910). Clay was a tutor for the Love children and lived with the family for a year in Austell, Georgia.
