Scope and Content

This collection contains a set of minutes from the Healey Real Estate and Improvement Company board of directors, two scrapbooks, and other family documents. One scrapbook records Oliver Markham Healey Sr.'s early childhood, and the other covers the wedding of Oliver Healey Sr. and Cornelia Orme Healey. Other materials include newspaper clippings about Cornelia Healey; Oliver Healy Sr.'s personal correspondence; a certificate from the Kiwanis International for Oliver Healey Sr.; stationery with the Shakerag Hounds logo; and letterhead from Healey Real Estate and Improvement Company.

Administrative/Biographical History

William Thomas Healey Sr. (1853-1920) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Thomas Goodfellow Healey (1818-1897) and Olive W. Healey (1824-1913). He married Ada Moore Healey (1881-1968) and they had two children: William Thomas Healey Jr. (1904-1988) and Oliver Markham Healey Sr. (1909-1995). William Healey Sr. founded the Healey Real Estate and Improvement Company, which owned and developed several properties in Atlanta including the Healey Building and the William-Oliver Building. Oliver Markham Healey Sr. married Cornelia Orme Healey (1911-1981) in 1930 and they had two children: Oliver Markham Healey Jr. (1936-2002) and Quill Orme Healey (1939-?). Oliver Healey Sr. was a member of Shakerag Hounds, a hunt club, and Kiwanis International, a charity for children.
