Scope and Contents
This collection contains a scrapbook created by Ada May Harling which includes clippings, programs, and postcards. The majority of the scrapbook highlights Harling's garden club activities with the Atkins Park Garden Club, The Garden Club of Georgia, and other Atlanta gardening clubs. The scrapbook also includes clippings about historic Georgia sites and gardens. Of special interest are photographs of the Harling's home at 1128 St. Augustine Place.

Biographical / Historical
Ada May Hendrie Harling (1880-1975) was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hendrie. Ada worked as a secretary for the Second Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, before marrying Edwin L. Harling (1872?-1941) in 1922. The couple lived on St. Augustine Place in the Atkins Park neighborhood in Atlanta, with Edwin's two sons, Edwin L. Jr. and Francis A., from his previous marriage to Frances "Fannie" D. Harling (1872-1919). Ada served as first president of the Atkins Park Garden Club and was an active garden lecturer on creating scrapbooks.
