Florence W. Brine manuscripts

Scope and Content This collection contains three manuscripts: "Arrogant Atlanta" retells a British newspaper account of a visit to Atlanta around 1880; "Atlanta's Heart" discusses the building of the Georgia Railroad Depot in 1864 and the activities of the Beethoven Society which was located in the building; and "David Howard" a profile of a former enslaved man and his entrepreneurial activities in post-bellum Atlanta.

Grady Hospital Student Doctors Account of the Winecoff Hotel Fire

Scope and Contents of the Records This collection contains a transcript of the comments of four doctors who served as student doctors under Dr. Charles Holloway at Grady Hospital. These four witnessed the fire and assisted patients both at the scene and in the emergency room. The first doctor interviewed was unnamed and arrived at the hospital emergency room at four in the morning. Scope and Content This collection contains one guest register book and two time books. The guest register book, titled "Information Book & Transient Guests Index," is arranged alphabetically by the last name of the guest and includes room number, arrival date, departure date, and account number. The time books include the names of the employees, days worked and absent, total time worked in days, advances and deductions, and balance due.
