Dr. Reid McCarty ledger

Scope and Content This collection contains Reid McCarty's business ledger. In the front half of the ledger, McCarty documented income received from patients, business partners, and Emory University. In the back of the ledger, he kept tables for incoming and outgoing funds, loan repayments, and monthly bank balances.

Grady Memorial Hospital Photographs

Scope and Content This photograph collection contains images of hospital physicians, nurses, staff, patients, as well as the buildings and grounds of the institution, including Grady Memorial Hospital, the Grady Memorial School of Nursing, and Hughes Spalding Pavilion. Among the images are photographs taken during special events, such as retirement ceremonies, graduations, Christmas parties, and receptions.

Herbert S. Alden medical prescriptions

Scope and Content This collection contains forty-three handwritten prescriptions written by sixteen Atlanta physicians. There are two prescriptions from 1891 that do not contain the prescribing physician's name. All of the prescriptions except one (1918) are handwritten. Some of the handwritten prescriptions appear to indicate a certain type of medicine prescribed for medical treatment, but most are illegible. The prescribing physicians include Dr. J. F. Joshua Gilbert papers

Noel D'Alvigny medical papers

Scope and Content This collection contains copies of papers relating to Noel D'Alvigny's service as a physician. Included is a form of regulations covering medical fees adopted by Atlanta medical doctors; his diploma; a contract between the United States Army and D'Alvigny as a private physician; an 1865 special order assigning him to duty in charge of a hospital for refugees and freedmen in Atlanta; and a letter extolling his professional and military service to the Confederacy.
